Welcome to our homepage!
We are one of the oldest chess clubs in Britain. We welcome players of all abilities, whether you are just looking for a friendly game or wish to enter one of our internal club competitions! We now have six teams playing in the Mid-Sussex Chess League and each year many players enter various national and international competitions.

Use the menu above to navigate our website.
Remember to check our blog for recent announcements.
(Occasionally most or all of us play in tournaments outside Brighton which can dramatically reduce turnout at the club.)
New Design
... our website has been completely redesigned to be much friendlier to search engines, making it easier for people to find out about us and is easier for the webmaster to update. It has less pages - making it easier to navigate. It will be easier to view on mobile devices, which are being used more and more. It is less dependent on javascript, which some people disable in their browsers.
Our two public blogs are embedded for ease of viewing. The site is more printer friendly for those who insist on printing. The old menu structure is retained but the pages which no-one looked at have been dropped. Finally, Brian Denman's book on the history of chess in Brighton has been republished in fully searchable form and our nineteenth century minute book now appears as a slideshow.
